The Great Western Tiers

Meander Falls and Liffey Falls are just two of the natural highlights of the Great Western Tiers.

Man-made attractions in the Great Western Tiers touring region include

Westbury (30 minutes)

Pearn's Steam World will intrigue and fascinate and the Westbury Maze will amuse.

Visit the pretty Village Green, which features in the celebration of occasions such as St Patrick's Day. Westbury is also home to the John Temple Gallery, featuring panoramic photographs of spectacular scenery.

Carrick (40 minutes)

Home to some wonderful old buildings as well as Marik's Copper Art Gallery, a veritable treasure trove of sculptures and craft. You can make a round trip from Mole Creek via Carrick to Liffey Falls, returning via Deloraine.

Hadspen (45 minutes)

Historic Entally House at Hadspen features a magnificent collection of Regency furniture, as well as fine silverware, a chapel, coach house and stables, and wonderful gardens. Entally House is open to the public daily and the venue for outdoor concerts and events during the warmer months.

Meander (20 minutes)

A tiny hamlet nestled at the foot of the Great Western Tiers. Nearby is the recently completed Meander Dam and picnic area.

Special events in the Great Western Tiers

Deloraine, Westbury, Carrick and other towns in the Great Western Tiers touring region also host special events, one of the most popular being the Tasmanian Craft Fair held in Deloraine in November each year.

Tasmanian Craft Fair : Deloraine : 30 October - 2 November 2009

Without a doubt, one of the area's major annual attractions. Run over four days and featuring over 200 stalls in 12 venues around Deloraine, you can stroll around at your leisure or catch the free shuttle bus service - just don't miss it!

Agfest : Carrick : May

This huge annual 3 day event features hundreds of displays, exhibits and stalls, including sensational food in a variety of delicious forms. Starts on the first Thursday in May each year.
